MANAGED A DEPARTMENT STORE

I moved back to my hometown Bergen due to personal reasons and worked four months as the department manager of a trendy retail store. The store held brands like Acne Studios, Alexander Wang, Victoria Beckham etc. This job gave me valuable insights into what customers actually needs.

KAIBOSH

I was approached by the owners of a start-up eyewear brand, Kaibosh, to lead the design team. The brand's philosophy was to build its sales channels and lower the prices of optical eyewear - making it an easy and enjoyable shopping experience for the consumer.

AWARDS

Kaibosh's design was a hit, and we took six of the most prestigious Scandinavian design awards home that year. The team doubled in size that year.

KAIBOSH

I designed and developed 4-5 concepts and collections per year for Kaibosh. I would closely collaborate with marketing on copywriting, campaigns and names for the frames.

I travelled to visit the factories in Shenzhen and was responsible for the day-to-day communications of product development.

We opened six stores between 2015 - 2017. I moved to Copenhagen and opened an office with the CEO there.

CHEAP MONDAY x SPECSAVERS

I designed two sun and optical collections/year for the Swedish brand Cheap Monday. I would meet with the design team of Cheap Monday in Stokholm and our customer Specsavers in Copenhagen. I learned how to balance the two very different aesthetics from the brand to the customer.

BRUUNS BAZAAR x SPECSAVERS

I designed two collections per year of Bruuns Bazaar, with a similar process to Cheap Monday. I would meet with the Bruuns Bazaar design team in Copenhagen and find the balance between their eastetics and what Specsavers wanted. This brand was very classy and the timeless pieces I designed for them was a great success with Specsavers.

SUN BUDDIES

Sun Buddies was the first project I did on my own. I helped them with their second collection which was launched in 2015. I made classic shapes with bolder acetate and was very diligent in getting the best quality and sharpest edges. The brand became a hit, and we did many collaborations in the following years.

MOY ATELIER

In 2017 I decided to start my own brand. I had gathered enough experience and was ready to show my own expression.

This shape - 'Sense of Sonder', was my first shape and was seen on Kate Moss only a couple of days after launching it.

In my debut collection, I questioned the meaning of masculine dressing. Are straight men wearing feminine clothes the last taboo in western fashion culture? Looking back to the ’70s and the gender-bender movement, highly attractive straight men like Mick Jagger, Lenny Kravitz and David Bowie played around with the roles of masculinity.

I wanted my brand to feel serene and intimate. I choose the lenses to be see-through as you'd catch eye connection with the wearers and help create that intimate and honest feeling.

A signature design of Moy Atelier was that the lenses would be puzzles together - here with a clear lens as the outer lens and a brown as the main.

I experimented with cuts in acetate and how I could create different movements doing so. This one 'April Nymph', was a classic oval shape with cut-out mother of pearl on a tortoise backdrop.

I experimented with complicated combinations of block and sheet metal, acetate and double-cut lenses. I worked closely with the factories in Japan and Shenzhen and we came up with the best technical solutions together.
